Latinos are a diaspora. We don’t all look the same, think the same or even speak the same. “La Mezcla,” or “The Mix” in English, refers to the multitudes we exist in.
There’s a brand of Latinos that we call “No Sabos” (“I Don’t Knows”), which is a play on the incorrect conjugation of saber, which means “to know.” It refers to people of Latino descent who can’t speak Spanish at a high level, but rather respond to their families in English.
I’m a “No sabo.” I can’t write in Spanish. At all.
This script was written in English (by me) and translated into Spanish (by the incomparable Marina Cuesta).
